X Rakhlin Cup International Judo Cadet Tournament will take place on June 15-17, 22 in St. Petersburg
The 10th Rakhlin Cup Judo Cadet Tournament, organized in memory of distinguished trainer of Russia Anatoly Rakhlin, will be held on 15-17 June as part of SPIEF. The tournament will showcase the most talented young judo athletes born in 2005-2007 and 2008-2009.
Sport program will start at 10:00. The finals will start at 16:30 and then followed by the awards ceremony. The opening ceremony of the X tournament will take place on June 15 at 10:00. Venue: Yubileyny Sports Palace, 18, prospect Dobrolyubova
Anatoly Rakhlin is an iconic figure in the history of Russian judo. The legendary coach began his career in the early 1960s. Among his first wards were Vladimir Putin, Arkady and Boris Rotenberg, Vasily Shestakov. In 1969, he created a sambo section in the Turbostroitel sports club, one of the leading centers of Russian judo in modern times. In 1972, he was the first of the Leningrad coaches who started to practice judo. A decade later he also was one of the pioneers in women's judo in the Soviet Union. In 2008–2012, Anatoly Rakhlin headed the Russian women's team, achieving successful showings at the world and European championships.
